1. Rationale for the Revisions

As many of you are aware, the size of Chinmaya Mission San Jose's community and its activity have grown by leaps and bounds over the last few years. While the needs of our community continues to grow at a scorching pace, our infrastructure and the wherewithal to augment it have not kept pace. (It may be pertinent to note here that our fee structure has remained unchanged for over 5 years). Our discourses and pujas are frequently overcrowded. Finding extra space (at affordable rates) for our Bala Vihar programs – all of which are conducted currently at rented facilities - to grow into has been a perennial challenge. And what is perhaps more disconcerting, if current demographic trends of the Indian Community in the Bay Area are anything to go by, there will likely be no let up in this torrid pace of growth in the foreseeable future.

The solution is two-fold:

a) acquire a new facility of our own to serve the community’s needs better, and

b) rent larger facilities for our programs and events in the interim

We Need Your Help to Serve You Better

Both of the aforementioned solutions require additional financial resources. And, as a 100% member-supported organization, we can turn nowhere else for help except to you. Turn to you for help we have, in what we hope you would agree is a measured and reasonable manner.

Swami Vivekananda unequivocally declared that he who gives spiritual knowledge is the greatest benefactor of mankind (note the Master’s use of the superlative here; it is, like every other word spoken by him, not incidental). Help us in this great undertaking of ours, of giving spiritual knowledge to not just us adults who live far away from our motherland but also to our children and grandchildren, to help mould their impressionable minds to take on the challenges of life with dignity, poise and quiet self-confidence.

There can be no love, Swami Chinmayananda eloquently said, without giving. To help us serve you better, we are asking you to give us just a little bit more, to make that extra bit of sacrifice.

We hope you will understand and continue to support us the way you have all these years.
